Week 11 Day 74 July 18 2000km Arrived Birdsville

The iconic Birdsville Pub & below Brad from Canberra who heard about Phil’s Trek on Wil Anderson’s podcast recognised Phil in the Birdsville Pub last night as we were having a meal, from our shirts we were wearing with our logo.  Good to meet you Brad.

A milestone for us Phil has walked 2,000km  & has 1,200km to go.

It was quite a long dusty road to Birdsville, but we have arrived and we are pleased to be here.

Thank you to Gabi Hollows for our little parcel waiting for us here, a beautiful CD of poems & yarns including The Man From Snowy River read by Fred Hollows himself, shortly before he died.

Thank you to so many wonderful people, friends & new acquaintances who have donated on line to Fred’s Foundation or who have just kept in touch with us.  We do not have all your contact details and also we are rarely in mobile coverage so we would like to say Thank You now in our Blog. A special thank you to our elderly uncle Philip in England his encouragement has been amazing.

We are both well& enjoying the Trek, the campfires each night under the Southern Cross, the Milky Way, the Moon & every morning without fail the Sunrise!  It is just wonderful out here in The Australian Outback.

We were on the ABC radio show Australia Sll Over Sun July 15.  It was a freezing morning & we were up before daybreak with our satellite phone talking to Macca.

We have a couple of rest days here in Birdsville then we push north once again.....
