BURKE & WILLS

WALK

Community Charity Challenge

13km now finished - we did it

  proudly supporting

Phil & Susan

enjoying their time

helping to restore sight

February 11th Walk was a big success.

Queens Park Moonee Ponds

This is the first stage of Phil's epic 3,200km long Trek from Melbourne to The Gulf of Carpentaria that Phil will be starting on Sunday May 6th 2018, following in the footsteps of Burke & Wills.

On February 11th we walked 13km from the Burke & Wills Memorial Cairn in Royal Park Melbourne to Moonee Ponds, where we enjoyed a banana before continuing around the lake in Queens Park and across to Moonee Ponds Creek Trail before returning along the waterway, back to Royal Park Nature Play behind the Royal Children's Hospital, there we enjoyed a snack & fruit and celebrated the completion of the Burke & Wills Walk.

The camels below are the memorial to Burke & Wills at Queens Park Moonee Ponds.  This is where

The Victorian Exploring Expedition spent their first night in 1860 on their way to the Gulf of Carpentaria

which Burke & Wills reached on Feb 11th 1861.

Support Phil and Susan who donate their time and effort raising money for

The Fred Hollows Foundation restoring sight to needlessly blind people.
